Pony Point Reserve
Above Cass Bay
Rapaki is home to the Ngati Wheki hapu, an important Ngai Tahu settlement for 300 years. Enjoy a swim at its beautiful beach. You may fish from the jetty but only with a customary permit from the Rapaki Mataitai Kaitiaka.
The road to the beach is narrow and parking limited, the best option being to park on the main road and walk down to the beach. If you do park at the bottom, locals will appreciate a donation towards the cost of their new marae building.
Directions: Rapaki Drive, turn off from Governor’s Bay–Lyttelton Harbour Road.
