Ilam Homestead provides a gracious venue of historic elegance, while retaining the charm and comfort of a welcoming home. The homestead was gifted to the Canterbury College by Edgar Stead, with the request that the wonderful azalea and rhododendron gardens he established be maintained in perpetuity. Set around two converging branches of the Avon River, the gardens are a mix of introduced and native species. Exploring the many paths and bridges is particularly beautiful in Spring.
