Tūranga - the new central library fostering life-long learning and be the place for information, inspiration and entertainment is now open!

At 9,850 m2, it is the largest public library in the South Island, and the second largest in the country. It  supports 19 community, digital, and mobile libraries, which last year hosted 3.7 million visits and issued almost 4.5 million items.

Make sure you stop at Foundation cafe for a coffee and lunch!
