Environment Canterbury
200 Tuam Street, Central City
Having all of Christchurch's Justice and Emergency Services based together in one precinct will have many benefits; by creating one central area that's dedicated entirely to the organisations that keep our city running, the Precinct will enable each of them to share infrastructure and co-ordinate their service delivery.
NZ Fire Service, NZ Police, St John, Ministry of Justice, Police Corrections, Civil Defence, Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury will all be located in the same area. A purpose-built Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will ensure state-of-the-art emergency response capability for local and national events. The centre will have independent power, water and waste disposal for at least 72 hours in emergency.
The Maori Land Court, Youth Courts, Family Courts, District Courts, High Court, Environment Court and other specialist jurisdictions will all be encompassed in one building.
