Bathing Figure is a naked sculpture by Christchurch artist Samuel Harrison now located in the Christchurch Arts Centre.
The work is made of concrete and features a naked female lying on a boulder. The artist was inspired when warming up on some hot river rocks after swimming with friends in the Okuku River in North Canterbury. He cast the boulder mould at the river over two days, using the river water to mix the plaster. A model lay on a replica of the boulder while Harrison sketched her. Using concrete gives the sculpture a lasting quality that will get better with time.
