It started life as an inflatable toy dinosaur purchased from Amazon, but now it is a polished steel sculpture in central Christchurch.

Artist Gregor Kregar's latest sculpture was installed in the Christchurch Arts Centre on Thursday as part of the Scape Public Art festival, which starts on October 7.

The artwork, Terminator T-Rex, was based on a cheap plastic inflatable toy. Kregar sculpted a version of it in clay, complete with the creases, then cast it in stainless steel and polished it to a mirror chrome finish.
