Here are the people and there is the steeple: Outer Spaces
Christchurch Art Gallery's east rear wall, Worcester Boulevard, Central City
Laurence Aberhart's photograph Kamala, Astral and Charlotte, Lyttelton, March 1983 depicts his daughters with a family friend, framed in the niche of an old fish and chip shop in Lyttelton. The building later became the Lava Bar attached to the Volcano Café, and was demolished following the 2010-2011 Christchurch earthquakes.
Laurence Aberhart is one of New Zealand's most significant artists - his work is included in every major public collection in this country, has been the subject of several books, and has been exhibited widely nationally and internationally.
