Ngā Māra a Te Wera (The Gardens of Te Wera) is the shared outdoor space on the the King Edward Barracks site.
It is a place for informal gatherings whilst remembering the sites deep Māori, European, military and police histories. The gardens provide a softening to the built form environment. The gardens have been named to commemorate Te Wera, a Ngāi Tahu warrior Chief.
Check it out next time you park in the Westend Carpark or when visiting West End Stories café/restaurant, West End Convenience Store, Barnett’s West End Pharmacy, Inati Restaurant or Koha Fitness gym.
